Scope

This standard specifies two methods for the determination of mer-captan sulphur in aviation turbine fuels containing from 0.000 3 to 0.01 percent ( m/m ) of mercaptan sulphur. Organic sulphur compounds such as sulphides, disulphides and thiophene do not interfere. Elemental sulphur in amounts less than 0.0005 percent ( m/m ) does not interfere. Hydrogen sulphide will interfere, if not removed as described in 3.4.1.
