1.1 This standard covers requirements and tests for various types of continuously rated rheostats required for regulating the field current of rotating electrical machines and rheostats used for similar other electrical purposes. 1.2 This standard does not cover the rheostats where ac characteristics are of critical importance ( see 0.3 ).
