This standard (Part XXXIV) covers the procedure for determining the density in-place of compacted or firmly bonded soil using a rubber-balloon apparatus. This method is not suitable for very soft soils which
will deform under slight pressure or in which the volume of the hole cannot be maintained at a constant value.
