This standard specifies the colour identification markings for air-purifying respirator canisters and cartridges used to afford respiratory protection against harmful gases, vapours, or particles, whether in industrial plants, in mines, in connection with public utility operations, in rescue work, or in any other similar endeavour. The requirements do not apply to military air-purifying respirator canisters or cartridges.
