Bl This standard establishes the test method that indicates the tendency of a lubricating oil to deteriorate due to oxidation, when tested under standardized conditions. The measure of deterioration is obtained by comparing the viscosity and residual carbon values obtained before and after oxidation. B-2 Correct results are not obtained with this technique if they are used oils that are appreciably volatile or that form solid products under the test conditions.
