Bl This standard establishes the method for determining the Saybolt viscosity of petroleum products. B-2 The Saybolt Universal viscometer should only be used for products with a viscosity greater than 32s. There is no maximum limit of viscosity to be measured with this type of viscometer but, in general, products with passage times of the order of 1000s, or more, Saybolt Universal, are more conveniently tested by means of the Saybolt Furol viscometer. B-3 The Saybolt Furol viscometer should be used only for products over 25s. The passage time of the Furol instrument is approximately one tenth of the time of the Universal.
