twenty-one ? E) The method prescribed in this standard shall be applied to the determination of sulfur: total in liquid petroleum products containing more than 0.002% and sulfur, combined in liquefied petroleum gases or in mixtures of light hydrocarbons that boil at similar temperatures. 2.2 Annex No. 1 prescribes a method that allows sulfur to be determined in quantities of the order of 1 part per million. 2.3 The direct combustion method (7.5) will be applied to the analysis of products such as gasoline, kerosene, naphtha, industrial aromatic hydrocarbons and other liquids that can be burned completely in a lamp with a wick. The mixing method (7.6) will be applied to the analysis of diesel. distilled fuel oil (thueloil), naphrenic acids, alkyl phenols, petroleum products with a high sulfur content and other products that do not burn satisfactorily by direct combustion. The analysis of liquefied petroleum products shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements of 7. 7. and is applicable to liquefied petroleum gas, butadian and other olefin concentrates that boil at low temperatures. 2.4. Heavier petroleum products that cannot be burned in a wick lamp will be tested by the bomb method (ASTM D 129), quartz tube method (ASTM D 1551}, or high temperature method (ASTM D 1552} until the corresponding INDITECNOR standards are issued.
