This standard defines the terms related to V-belt and grooved pulley transmissions, specifying their corresponding symbols. The dimensions of the pulleys can be defined based on the concept of the "reference width" or taking into account the "effective width". Consequently, there are two systems to define and describe the dimensions of pulleys and belts, independent of each other. Both systems are presented in this standard.
