Scope
1.1 This standard specifies thermogravimetric measurements for the determination of total organic components, carbonaceous residues, carbon black, and ash in unvulcanized rubber compounds and vulcanized rubbers containing polymers that produce carbonaceous residues upon pyrolysis. Specifies the law (see 1.2). Note that the amount of mass loss up to around 300 °C is a rough indicator of the amount of volatile components in the compound. 1.2 This method uses hydrocarbon polymers specified in JIS K 6226-1, as well as unvulcanized rubber compounds and vulcanized rubber, as well as the following, which have polar groups that form carbonaceous residues upon thermal decomposition. Applicable to unvulcanized rubber formulations and vulcanized rubbers of copolymers.
