- Scope
- This Part specifies the technical requirements for the thickness, corrosion protection, mechanical and physical properties of electroless zinc flake coatings for common threaded fasteners made of steel. This section applies to zinc flake coatings with or without chromate passivation. Zinc flake coatings specified in this standard may also be applied to screws that can be cut or rolled to match internal threads, such as wood screws, self-tapping screws, self-drilling and self-tapping screws, self-extruding screws; cut and rolled threads , and steel unthreaded fasteners such as washers and pins. This standard can also be used for similar other types of threaded steel parts. Zinc flake coatings specified in this standard also provide self-lubrication and/or post-lubrication.
