This standard specifies the categories of flammable materials that are prohibited for use in all toys and the combustion performance requirements for certain toys that may come into contact with small fire sources. The test methods described in Chapter 5 are suitable for testing the burning properties of toys under specific test conditions. The test results cannot be used to determine that these or materials do not pose a potential fire hazard when in proximity to other sources of ignition. This standard includes general requirements relating to the flammability of all toys and specific requirements and test methods for the following toys which are considered to be most susceptible to ignition. ——Headgear toys: beards, tentacles, wigs, etc. made of hair, plush or similar materials; molded or fabric masks; headscarves, headdresses, etc.; toy floats worn on the head (but not including firecrackers usually associated with colorful packets) Paper floral hats provided together):
——Toy costumes and toys worn by children during play;
——Toys for children to enter:
——Soft stuffed toys (animals or dolls) with plush or textile surfaces. Note: For additional requirements on the combustion performance of electric toys, see EN 50088 {Safety of Electric Toys" and EN62115 (Safety of Electric Toys" (1EC62115: 2003+A1: 2004 modification sheet).
