- This standard specifies the method for determining the water absorption capacity (Cobb value) of the surface of paper and paperboard with a Cobb water absorption tester. This standard applies to the determination of water absorption on the surface of sized paper and paperboard. This standard does not apply to base paper and embossed paper with a basis weight less than 50g/m2, low sizing degree or more pinholes; it does not apply to paper and cardboard without sizing; Evaluation of writing properties of paper and board.
