Scope
This standard sets out requirements for the determination of the maximum propulsion rated power of engine-driven small boats with a hull length less than 8 m. This standard does not apply to: - personal boats as defined in IS0 13590; - kayaks and Eskimo seal kayaks; - inflatable boats as defined in Part 1 to Part 3 of IS0 6185, but in IS0 6185- The test required in 3 is to be carried out according to this standard, except rigid inflatable boats (RIBS) whose maximum speed is not less than 30 kn. - racing boats (boats designed and constructed solely for racing). This standard does not specify the structural strength requirements of the boat related to the maximum rated power, and does not guarantee the safety when it is unstable due to all conditions such as water area, wind, wake and waves.
