- The standard covers the general manufacturing, production, labeling and functional requirements for biological indicators and suspensions used for validation and monitoring in sterilization cycles. NOTE: The subsequent sections of this standard address the special requirements for biological indicators for specific sterilization procedures. This standard does not cover procedures for the recovery of products directly inoculated with test microorganisms or inoculated products, nor does it cover biological indicators for the use of more than one strain or microbial carrier.
