DIN 58940-83:2002 Medical microbiology - Susceptibility testing of microbial pathogens to antimicrobial agents - Part 83: Microdilution; Special requirements for testing of strictly anaerobically bacteria
Together with DIN 58940-8, the document specifies the in vitro testing of the susceptibility of obligate anaerobic bacteria to antibiotics by broth dilution. The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of obligate anaerobic bacteria, in particular the genera Bacteroides, Prevotella, Porphyromonas, Peptostreptococcus and Clostridium, is determined by microdilution; the aim is to obtain reproducible interlaboratory and comparable intralaboratory results. This reference method may also be used as a routine method.
