This standard specifies octave and 1/3 octave band analyzers (1) (hereinafter referred to as analyzers) used for frequency analysis of sound and vibration. Analyzers are classified into classes 1 and 2, and the performance of their filters is in accordance with the applicable provisions of JIS C 1514. Note (1) In principle, an indicator shall be provided, and this standard can also be applied to filters built into or externally attached to sound level meters, vibration level meters, etc. The analyzer may be equipped with both an octave and 1/3 octave panned filter, or it may be equipped with either one. Further, a 1/N octave panned filter other than a 1/3 octave panned filter may be provided. Regarding the filter characteristics in that case, apply JIS C 1514.
