This standard specifies the dissolver process for preparing polyvinyl chloride pastes obtained from vinyl chloride resin (PVC). This polyvinyl chloride base is used to characterize different vinyl chloride resins with respect to their rheological properties and as a means of establishing consistency for various shipments. This method can also be used to prepare pastes of other compositions (eg, with stabilizers), but such pastes cannot be used for resin classification purposes.
