Scope

This standard specifies the determination of the minimum oxygen concentration in a gas mixture of oxygen and nitrogen that will maintain combustion in a vertical specimen at temperatures between 25°C and 150°C and under specified test conditions. The condensation obtained in this standard is taken as the oxygen index value at the typical superheating condition temperature that plastic materials actually encounter.
