Scope: This standard specifies the necessary verification test methods and acceptance criteria for casing and tubing threaded connections used in the oil and gas industry. The tests specified are part of the design verification program and can provide objective evidence to verify that the test load envelope and ultimate load of the threaded connection are consistent with the manufacturer's declaration. This standard divides the test into 4 grades according to the service conditions of threaded connections. This International Standard establishes an identification system for threaded connections. This International Standard does not provide a statistical basis for risk analysis. This standard only deals with the make-up torque of tubing and casing and three of the five main loads that tubing and casing strings are subjected to in a well: fluid pressure (internal and/or external), axial force (tension and/or compression) and bending (buckling and/or wellbore deformation). Rotational torque and non-axisymmetric (surface, line, point contact) loads are not involved. The purpose of the tests specified in this standard is to determine the tendency, sealing performance, and structural integrity of tubing and casing threaded connections. Tubing and casing are differentiated by application rather than outer diameter.
