- This standard specifies the scope, terminology, shot peening media, technical requirements, inspection methods, etc. of shot peening of cylindrical spiral compression springs (referred to as circular springs) and automobile leaf springs (referred to as leaf springs). This standard is applicable to the shot peening process for the purpose of increasing and improving the fatigue life of cylindrical spiral compression springs and automobile leaf springs. The shot peening treatment of other springs can be used as a reference.
