This International Standard specifies an empirical test procedure for evaluating the resistance of coatings of paints, varnishes and related products to cracking or detachment from metallic substrates after gradual deformation by indentation under standard conditions. This standard applies to single-coat or composite coating systems. For composite coating systems, each coating can be tested separately or the entire system can be tested. The following test methods can be used: —— Conduct the test according to the specified indentation depth, and evaluate its “pass/fail” according to whether it meets the specific requirements; ——Gradually increase the indentation depth to determine whether the coating has just cracked or The minimum depth at which detachment from the substrate begins.
