Scope
This specification covers a titanium alloy in the form of bars, wire, forgings, and flash welded rings 4.000 inches (101.60 mm) and under in nominal diameter or least distance between parallel sides and of stock for foging or flash welded rings. These products have been used typically for parts which are machined after being solution heat treated and aged, and are suitable for parts requiring high strength-to-weight ratios at or near room temperature, but usage is not limited to such applications. Certain processing procedures and service conditions may cause these products to become subject to stress-corrosion cracking; ARP 982 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.
