1.1 This standard specifies the method for determining the compatibility of greases and liquid lubricants with standard rubber test pieces. Standard rubber is nitrile rubber (NBR-L) and chloroprene rubber (CR). 1.2 This standard is applicable to the compatibility of greases and liquid lubricants with standard rubber test pieces, especially the evaluation of the compatibility of greases and liquid lubricants used in automobiles with rubber test pieces. This standard is also applicable to industrial Evaluation of liquid lubricants. 1.3 The test results of this standard are suitable for the evaluation of rubber seals, sealing rings, O-rings and similar products in contact with grease and liquid lubricants in situations where mechanical requirements are not stringent. In applications where rubber parts in contact with grease and liquid lubricants face large deflections, severe temperatures and stresses, other properties of the rubber, such as tensile strength and elongation at break, should be evaluated to more truly reflect its properties. Compatibility with rubber. 1.4 This standard covers certain hazardous materials, operations and equipment, but does not provide recommendations on all safety issues related thereto. Therefore, users should establish appropriate safety precautions and develop corresponding management systems before using this standard.
