Scope: This standard is applicable to the acoustic emission (AE) testing and evaluation of newly manufactured and on-site metal vertical storage tanks where the working medium is gas or liquid and the working pressure is normal pressure or low pressure less than 0.1MPa. During testing, this standard requires the tank to be loaded so that the final load it experiences is greater than the pressure in normal use. For the detection of storage tanks in use, the stored working medium is usually directly loaded for detection in an online manner without the need to empty the tank or clean the tank. The detection of the tank body is done through AE source positioning technology. Determine the meaningful AE source location, and then use other non-destructive testing methods to determine the nature and significance of the AE source. The detection of the tank bottom is to evaluate the degree of corrosion of the tank bottom through the analysis of the detected effective AE signals. During the testing process, if there is a leakage, this standard can also detect it in time, but leakage detection is not the main purpose of this standard. This standard does not fully list all the safety requirements for testing.
