Scope

This standard specifies the safety requirements for the design and manufacture of portable metal ladders, the test requirements and the requirements for safe use. This standard applies to portable metal extension ladders (two-section and three-section extension ladders), portable metal single ladders, portable metal folding ladders, and portable metal combination ladders used in various production activities.
