Scope: This standard specifies the general principles for direct visual inspection and indirect visual inspection when visual inspection is used to determine whether a product conforms to specified requirements (for example: surface condition of workpiece, alignment of mating surfaces, shape of workpiece). This standard does not apply to testing activities using any other destructive testing or non-destructive testing methods. The basic rules to be followed when applying non-destructive testing specified in GB/T 5616 apply to this standard.
