Scope

This standard provides guidance on the practical measurement of the sound output of various types of medical ultrasound equipment using the hydrophone method in the frequency range 0.5 MHz to 15 MHz. This standard gives simplified procedures and guidance for the measurement of the sound output of medical ultrasound equipment, as well as procedures for correcting limitations caused by the use of hydrophones with limited bandwidth and limited sensitive element size.
