Scope
This Draft for Development specifies a method for determining the individual polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon content and the total polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon content of air-dried soil samples. The individual polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons to be determined are:acenaphthene, acenaphthylene, anthracene, benz[a]anthracene, benzo[b]fluoranthene, benzo[k]fluoranthene, benzo[ghi]perylene, henzo[a]pyrene, chrysene, dibenz[ah]anthracene, fluoranthene, fluorene, indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene, naphthalene, phenanthrene and pyrene. The method has also been shown to be applicable to benzo[j]fluoranthene and benzo[e]pyrene, and can be used after suitable testing for other polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons as required. This method does not measure total polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
