Scope
This standard specifies the apparatus and test methods for accelerated corrosion tests used to evaluate the corrosion resistance of metallic materials used in outdoor salt-contaminated environments, regardless of whether the tested materials have permanent or temporary corrosion protection. This standard specifies the conditions under which specimens are cyclically exposed to neutral salt spray, "dry" and "wet" test environments. This standard does not specify the type and exposure time of the sample. Compared with traditional accelerated corrosion tests, such as neutral salt spray test (NSS), the biggest advantage of this test is that it can better reproduce the corrosion that occurs in outdoor salt-polluted environments. The accelerated corrosion test in this standard applies to: - metals and their alloys; - metallic coatings (anodic and cathodic); - conversion coatings; - anodic oxide coatings; - metallic materials organic overlay.
