Scope: This standard specifies test methods for overvoltage and overcurrent for all communications equipment used by network operators and manufacturers. This standard applies to all telecommunications equipment connected to conductors outside or inside buildings. This standard does not stipulate the test levels and judgment criteria for specific equipment. For relevant regulations, please refer to the specific product standards. Therefore, this standard should be used in conjunction with a product standard that contains the resistance requirements and test methods of the equipment under test. If the requirements of the product standard are inconsistent with this standard, the requirements of the product standard shall prevail. This standard assumes that equipment grounding and connections comply with the installation requirements specified in the relevant standards. The tests in this standard are type tests. Although these tests apply to complete systems, they can also be used on individual parts when doing development and design work. When conducting tests, consideration must be given to any conditions inside the equipment under test as well as outside them that may affect the results. This standard does not include requirements and test methods for electrostatic discharge testing.
