This standard presents guidelines for the selection, installation, calibration, performance, and operation of Coriolis flow meters for measuring mass flow, density, volume flow, and other related parameters of fluids. This International Standard specifies methods for the determination (using predetermined standard densities) of gas mass flow and standard volume flow. This standard also takes due account of the nature of the measured fluid. The main purpose of a Coriolis flow meter is to measure the mass flow of fluids. But some Coriolis meters also have the ability to measure the density and temperature of the fluid. By measuring these three parameters the volumetric flow of the fluid and other related parameters can be determined. With special considerations, any Coriolis flowmeter can in principle be used to measure gas flow. Special considerations for measuring gas flow are given in Appendix E. This standard is mainly applicable to the measurement of liquids, and may also be applicable to the measurement of gases in some occasions.
