Scope

This standard specifies the test method for metal oxide varistors (hereinafter referred to as MOV) used in power lines, communication lines, or signal lines of 1000 V AC or less or 1500 V DC or less. MOVs are designed to protect equipment and/or parts of equipment from high voltage transients.
