Scope
This part of GB/T 20895 specifies methods for assessing the stability and buoyancy of intact (i.e. undamaged) boats, including the assessment of the buoyancy of boats that are prone to flooding and sinking. This section is used to evaluate stability and buoyancy, and each boat can be assigned a design category (Category A, B, C or D) appropriate to its design load and maximum total load. This section applies to boats with a hull length of 6 m to 24 m that are mainly propelled by human power or mechanical power. However, if these boats do not meet the design category required by GB/T 20895.3 (ISO 12217-3), and they are equipped with a deck and a rapid water-discharging concave body that meets the requirements of ISO 11812, they may also be applicable. Boats under 6 m. This section does not include: ——inflatable boats and rigid inflatable boats not larger than 8 m covered by ISO 6185; ——canoes, kayaks or other boats with a width less than 1.1 m. This section does not consider or evaluate the impact of towing, fishing, dredging or lifting operations on stability and such conditions should be considered separately (if applicable).
