It applies to containers rated for an allowable operating pressure of up to 3 bar and with a nominal volume of up to 50 litres. The containers are used as returnable packaging. Beverage containers in accordance with this standard (casks and kegs; hereinafter called "containers") are preferably used for beer. This standard specifies the quality requirements with respect to material, constancy of volume and dimensional stability. Container type-testing can be carried out in accordance with this standard. Type testing is to be conducted by an independent body.
