- Scope
- This standard specifies the instrumentation and operating procedures for calibrating linear accelerometers (with or without amplifiers) by the absolute method, and methods for obtaining the amplitude and phase shift of the accelerometer's complex sensitivity using steady-state sinusoidal vibration and laser interferometry. The applicable frequency range of this part is 1Hz~10kHz, and the dynamic range (amplitude) is 0.1m/s2~1000m/s2 (depending on the frequency). The measurement uncertainty specified in Chapter 3 of this part covers the above range. If the calibration frequency is lower than 1Hz (for example: the reference frequency in other international standards is 0.4Hz) and the acceleration amplitude is less than 0.1m/s2 (for example: 0.004m/s2 for 1Hz) , a suitable low-frequency vibrating table can be selected, and method 3 specified in this section can be used. Method 1 (fringe counting method) is suitable for calibration of sensitivity amplitude in the frequency range of 1Hz to 800Hz. Under special conditions, it can be used in higher frequency bands (see Chapter 8). Method 2 (minimum point method) is applicable to the sensitivity amplitude calibration in the frequency range of 800Hz~10kHz (see Chapter 9). Method 3 (sinusoidal approximation method) is suitable for the calibration of sensitivity amplitude and phase shift in the frequency range of 1 Hz to 10 kHz (see Chapter 10). Method 1 and method 3 require calibration at different frequency points and fixed acceleration amplitudes. Method 2 requires calibration at a fixed displacement magnitude (where the acceleration magnitude varies with frequency).
