- This procedure is applicable to the determination of the shear strength parameters c and φ of fine-grained soil and the shear strength parameter φ of sandy soil whose particle size should be less than 2 mm. Soil with a permeability coefficient greater than 10-6cm/s is not suitable for quick shear tests.
