Scope
This International Standard deals with characteristicproperties and gives test methods for coatings ob-tained byThe spraying of zinc and aluminium andtheir alloys forThe general purpose of corrosionprotection.It gives firstlyThe definition, classification and sym-bols forThese coatings in relation toTheir thickness.ItThen deals withThe preparation of surfaces, appli-cation of coatings andTheir characteristic proper-ties:namely, thickness, appearance and adhesion.Finally it gives test methods for checkingTheseproperties.It does not deal with repairs to damaged metalareas.This International Standard applies to Thermal-sprayed metallic coatings forThe protection of ironand steel against corrosion by applying zinc or alu-minium orTheir alloys toThe surface to be protectedIt does not, in general, apply to coatings obtainedbyThe application of metals other than zinc or alu-minium, although for other metals some of the pro-visions are valid and may be adopted by agreementbetweenThe interested parties.
