These requirements cover dry-cleaning machines for use as or with Type IV systems utilizing Class IV solvents as defined in the Standard for Dry-Cleaning Plants, NFPA 32. The machines investigated under these requirements are intended for use with solvents or liquids classed as nonflammable or as having a maximum numerical fire hazard rating of 5, in accordance with the Standard for Tests for Comparative Flammability of Liquids, UL 340. These requirements cover dry-cleaning machines that are rated 600 V or less than that employ no universal motor rated more than 250 V. These machines are for use in ordinary locations in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.
