These requirements cover portable automatic medium-pressure acetylene generators of the carbide-to-water type to be employed in oxy-acetylene welding and cutting systems in accordance with the Standard of the National Fire Protection Association for the Design and Installation of Oxygen-Fuel Gas Systems for Welding and Cutting, NFPA 51. These requirements do not cover stationary generators covered by other standards-Standard for Acsetylene Generators, Stationary, Medium-Pressure, UL 408; and Standard for Acetylene Generators, Stationary, Low-Pressure, UL 409.
