Scope
This standard specifies the dimensional tolerances and allowable limit dimensions for the effective diameter and crest diameter (inner diameter of the female thread) of general-use metric female threads specified in JIS B 0205-3. Note that the general metric female thread specified in JIS B 0205-3 has a standard chevron shape in accordance with JIS B 0205-1. Female threads according to this standard are intended to be mated with external threads having the maximum dimension of tolerance position h before hot-dip galvanizing. The allowable limit dimensions for the fit categories shown in this standard are derived from the tolerances specified in JIS B 0209-1. The underlying dimensional tolerance for a captive screw with tolerance position AZ was calculated using the following formula: ElAZ=+(300+20P)Here, the unit of EI is μm. The unit of P is mm. The underlying dimensional tolerance for a captive screw with tolerance position AX was calculated using the following formula: EIAX=+(220P-20)Here, the unit of El is μm, and the unit of P is mm. Products manufactured with thread tolerances according to this standard may be underloaded when tested according to JIS B 1052 without adjusting other mechanical properties. A female screw with a thread tolerance according to this standard shall not be combined with an external screw thread with a thread tolerance according to JIS B 0209-4 because this may cause a serious risk of thread shearing. Notes 1. Female threads with tolerance class 6AZ are intended to be combined with male threads that have been hot-dip galvanized and then treated with a centrifuge. Female threads with tolerance class 6AX are intended to be combined with male threads with hot-dip galvanization, which has a thick coating that is not treated with a centrifuge. Note: The corresponding international standards for this standard are shown below. The symbols representing the degree of correspondence are IDT (matched), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) based on ISO/IEC Guide 21.
