This standard applies to the calibration of the measurement characteristics of stylus-type surface roughness measuring instruments for measuring surface texture using the contour curve method defined in JIS B 0651. Calibration is performed using standard pieces. Annex B applies to the calibration of the measurement characteristics of simple operator type stylus surface roughness measuring instruments that do not comply with JIS B 0651.
