Scope
This standard applies to line post composite insulators, which are composed of cylindrical insulating core rods, jackets and end accessories. The mandrel bears the load and is made of resin-impregnated fiberglass, the jacket is made of elastic material (such as silicone rubber or ethylene propylene rubber), and the end attachment is permanently fixed to the insulator mandrel. Composite line post insulators described in this standard are designed to withstand bending, tensile and compressive loads when used to support line conductors. It is suitable for AC overhead lines with a nominal voltage higher than 1000V and a frequency not higher than 100Hz. The purpose of this standard is to: — define terms used; — specify test methods; — specify acceptance or rejection criteria. This standard does not contain requirements for selecting insulators under special operating conditions.
