Scope
This standard applies to the α/β gas flow proportional counting system, which is used to determine the emission rate of α-ray and β-ray of radionuclide in the sample (count). This standard establishes standard methods for the calibration and use of alpha/beta flow proportional gas counters, including the measurement of their characteristics. This standard applies to beta-rays with energies in excess of 100keV, but the techniques it describes are also applicable to lower-energy beta-rays, provided that great attention is paid to details concerning sample preparation and calibration and measurement.
