- Scope
- This standard specifies the determination methods for wood adhesives and their resins. 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4 and 3.5 of this standard are applicable to the determination of urea-formaldehyde, phenol-formaldehyde and melamine-formaldehyde resins for wood adhesives. 3.6 of this standard is applicable to the determination of water-soluble phenolic resin and urea-formaldehyde resin for wood adhesives. 3.7, 3.8, 3.17 and 3.18 of this standard are applicable to the determination of urea-formaldehyde resins for wood adhesives. 3.9 of this standard is applicable to the determination of urea-formaldehyde resin and phenolic resin for wood adhesives. 3.10 of this standard is applicable to the determination of urea-formaldehyde resin and phenolic resin for wood adhesives. 3.11 of this standard is applicable to the determination of alcohol-soluble phenolic resin. 3.12 of this standard applies to the determination of the gel time of soluble and low-melting resole phenolic resins; it does not apply to powdered phenolic resins, novolacs, and resins that cannot cure themselves like hexamethylenetriamine and Determination of the gel time of resins containing large amounts of low-boiling solvents. The gel time in the presence of catalyst can be determined. The catalyst can be added in a fixed ratio, and the gel time of catalyst curing should be stated in the report using the type of curing agent and sample processing method. 3.13 of this standard is applicable to the determination of free phenol content of phenolic resin. 3.14 of this standard is applicable to the determination of the bromide content of water-soluble phenolic resin. 3.15 of this standard is applicable to the determination of alkali content of water-soluble phenolic resin. 3.16.1 of this standard is applicable to the determination of free formaldehyde content of phenolic resin with free formaldehyde content not greater than 15%. For phenolic resins with a free formaldehyde content greater than 15% and less than or equal to 30%, it is necessary to adjust the concentration of the standard solution used. This method is also not suitable for the determination of the free formaldehyde content of phenolic resin containing hexamethylenetetramine in the resin. 3.16.2 of this standard is applicable to the determination of free formaldehyde content of urea-formaldehyde and urea-melamine formaldehyde resins. This method is not applicable to the determination of free formaldehyde content of furan resin modified by phenolic resin.
