- This standard specifies the polarimetric method for the determination of starch content in feed. This method is not applicable to products containing substances other than starch which are optically active during the analysis and are insoluble in 40% ethanol, such as potato pulp, beet silk, leaves, roots, crowns, yeast, soybean products, lupine , Glucose-rich products, such as chicory root and Jerusalem artichoke, etc., at this time, the starch content can be determined by enzymatic method. When the amylose exceeds 40%, it is not suitable to use this method to determine the starch content, such as high amylose corn starch HylonII. WARNING: Handling product with high temperature and humidity may result in low starch results.
