Scope

This standard provides a comprehensive basis for collecting reliability and maintenance data in a standardized format for oil and gas drilling, production, refining, and pipeline transportation. This standard provides guidance for the specification, collection and quality assurance of reliability and maintenance data to facilitate data collection. This data enables the user to quantify the reliability of the device and to compare reliability with other similar characteristics. By analyzing the data, reliability parameters for design, operation and maintenance can be determined. However, this standard is not a method for the analysis of reliability and maintenance data. The main objectives of this standard are: a) Standardize the collected data for the following analysis: 1) System design and configuration; 2) Safety, reliability and availability of the system and the whole set of devices; 3) Life cycle costs; 4) Planning, optimization and implementation of maintenance. b) standardize the data in a standard format to: 1) allow the exchange of reliability and maintenance data between manufacturers, users, manufacturers and contractors; 2) ensure that the reliability and maintenance data used for analysis are of sufficient quality. This standard applies to all types of equipment used in the oil and gas industry, such as process equipment (onshore and offshore installations), subsea equipment, well completion equipment and drilling equipment. Appendix A includes a series of examples. This standard applies to the data collected in the running state. Because of the variety of uses for reliability and maintenance data, it should be emphasized that each data collection program should pay attention to the appropriate level of data required.
