Scope
This section gives guidance on the implementation of life-cycle cost analysis for the development and use of drilling, production and pipeline equipment for the oil and gas industry. The life cycle cost analysis described in this section can be used to make decisions about scenarios that have multiple cost components or asset phases. This method is widely used, especially when making decisions considering the following factors: — process conceptual design; — equipment positioning; — project implementation strategy; — health, safety and environment; — system concept and scale design; — equipment model; — equipment configuration; — layout; — maintenance and logistics support strategy; — personnel strategy; — personnel levels; — operation strategy; — facility modification; — spare parts and support strategy; — reuse and disposal. This section applies to all project decisions, but the degree of planning and process management will depend on the size of the input costs and the potential value that can be generated. This guide is valuable in making decisions about new investment projects or in daily economic optimization.
