Scope
From its origins in the SmartCities project, MMUSST set out to deliver an overview of the methods and components for Multi-application MUlti-issuer citizen card Scheme STandardisation. While this continues to be the case, initial work has identified the increasing importance of the single scheme, multiple service provider model, alongside the "multi-issuer" concept. The principal "driver" for the MMUSST workshop is the SmartCities Interest Group, with members from across the European Union (city/regional councils) who share the belief and objective that multi-application, multi-issuer smart card schemes have a sustainable future in providing citizen access to electronic services. Since the completion of the SmartCities Project a number of developments have taken place in the areas of eID, integrated transport and ePayment solutions. These provide even greater drivers for the development of multi-application, multi-issuer schemes.
