Scope
This section involves the safety of hand-held power tools driven by motors or electromagnets with AC single-phase and DC rated voltages not greater than 250 V and AC three-phase rated voltages not greater than 440 V. Whenever applicable, this section addresses common hazards encountered by people during normal use of tools as well as reasonably foreseeable misuse of tools. Tools with electric heating elements fall within the scope of this standard. These tools should also comply with the relevant parts of the GB 4706 series. For motors that are not isolated from the grid and are not designed with basic insulation according to the rated voltage of the tool, the requirements are specified in Appendix B. The requirements for power tools and electromagnetic-driven tools powered by rechargeable batteries and their battery boxes are specified in Appendix K. The requirements for such battery-operated tools that can be operated and/or charged directly from the mains or non-isolated power supply are given in Appendix I. Regulation. Handheld power tools that can be mounted on a bracket or workbench and used as fixed tools without any modification to the tool itself fall within the scope of this section. The requirements for these supports or workbenches are specified in Appendix M. This section does not apply to: ——hand-held tools used in explosive atmospheres (dust, vapor or gas); ——hand-held tools for preparing and processing food; ——hand-held tools for medical use (IEC 60601); ——Special requirements for portable electric heating tools and similar appliances covered by GB 4706.41. Additional requirements may be required for hand tools used in vehicles, boats or aircraft; special requirements may be required for hand tools used in tropical countries. Note: Pay attention to the following fact: In many countries, there are additional requirements stipulated by their health, labor protection, water sources, etc. authorities.
