Scope
This part specifies corrosion fatigue tests and cyclic failure tests of metals and their alloys in aqueous or gaseous environments. The crack growth test is specified in GB/T 20120.2-2006. Corrosion or other chemically active environments can induce fatigue cracks in metals and their alloys and accelerate the rate of fatigue crack growth. The corrosion fatigue process is not limited to a specific metal/environment system, and fatigue life safety calculations cannot be performed for all load and environment combinations without laboratory test data. This standard does not apply to corrosion fatigue testing of parts or assemblies, although many of the general principles are still applicable.
